Yeah, arbitrary RSS support would be cool. I was also thinking if you could integrate with Daily Mile (which I use) or services like that, that could be really interesting. I have some memorable bike rides in there.

I like this idea. I already keep a notebook/journal, and I've started writing more frequently on my blog, but so much of what I do that's memorable goes onto Facebook or Twitter (not so much Foursquare, but maybe if I was recording it for p

I love Heroku, LOLcats, and HTTP so I am very disappointed in myself right now for not thinking of this. Nice work, sir.

Kevin Drum has argued that once computers are smart enough to drive trucks, what are truck drivers going to do instead? Computers will be smart enough to do just about anything else they could do. http://motherjones.com/kevin-drum/2011/09/

I hadn't heard about SpeakerDeck before. It's certainly a nicer viewing experience than SlideShare.

OAuth 1 is hard. OAuth 2 is much easier. But OAuth 2 still sucks on native apps. The spec strongly discourages storing keys in the application binary, but every single mobile app example I see does this. My question: is anyone doing this _r

I was wondering if the author would mention District Heating, which arguably makes way more sense for effectively using this waste heat, and he did: "Many cities in Europe already have insulated pipes in place for centralized “district heat

I don't think webapp2 is a framework, though. It was designed to be compatible with webapp2, and then add some niceties, so it's a drop-in replacement for webapp. Even with webapp2_extras, it doesn't contain half of what Django or Rails doe

This is why we stopped using App Engine frameworks at my gig. I'm not sure why, but they tend to die off rather quickly. App Engine Patch, Kay, and Tipfy have all become unmaintained. My theory is that the critical mass for App Engine frame

Ah, cool. If I'm reading that right, you can raise $10,000 or up to 10% of the investors annual income (whichever is less) as long as you're raising less than $1M (or $2M with audited financial statements, whatever that means). That will op

That was my read too (due to what "crowd funding" brings to mind, e.g., Kickstarter). However, this does not seem to be the case. In fact, it only changes the rules about general solicitation. "the prohibition against general solicitation o

Hmmm, I have forgotten the significance. Another example: in Richard K. Morgan's Altered Carbon, "mirrorwood" from Harlan's World is prized on Earth, but used as a common building materia on its homeworld. Let me know if you find that essay

This would be sweet for running CrashPlan on. Are there other SAN solutions that work with CrashPlan? I looked about 2 years ago and didn't find a good option (to me, good = I don't have to leave my computer on all the time).

I agree, this form factor seems really hard to hold. Why not go with a more traditional Point and Shoot form factor? If they put a touch sensitive screen on the back you could even re-focus on the fly!

The automatic overdraft "protection" scam was recently made illegal. Now you have to opt-in to have overdrafts covered. Banks made a ton of money off of this, so this is another reason why they are trying to find new ways to raise revenue.
