I'm a C++ guy who prefers `int*`. I also hate multiple declarations on a single line so I just outlaw that entirely so I never have an issue with declaration correctness.

Yes, that's because I was using the word "stuck" metaphorically. I choose to be stuck because I actually find the benefits of being stuck to outweigh the costs. If I lost my job it probably wouldn't take me 24 hours to p

How's the work/life balance these days? Are 60-80 hour work weeks still the norm?

I find it completely baffling that it's your dream to work for SpaceX but you're unwilling to relocate? I'm stuck in the bay area (which I absolutely despise) because of my job, but I get to write flight software for spacecra

I check Instagram most days and I had never heard of Instagram TV before this post. They can't possibly have been shoving it down everyone's throats that aggressively.

I've done a ton of electrical work for my own benefit over the years and I'm perfectly comfortable doing things like swapping switches with live wires. I've never once had a problem. The one and only time I've fucked up

I don't know about Washington, but in Oregon if it has electrical you need permits. Full stop. It's absolutely not on the buyer. It's on the buyer to do their due diligence, but it is certainly unethical, if not illegal to se

The word "permit" is suspiciously absent from this story, and adding a well would most certainly have required permits. Probably a lot of things they did required permits, but if the narrative is accurate it doesn't seem like

Depending on the exact location, you can get land for as little as $1000/acre in central Oregon. $12,000/acre isn't impressive at all for off-the-grid non-farmable land.

Literally every locality I have ever had any interaction with on the West coast falls into one of two categories: 1) Is a major metropolitan area (LA, OC, SF, SV, Seattle, a few others) 2) Self identifies as the meth-capital of <state>
