In borderline hire/promote situations committees are more likely to hire (and promote) women than men. If you don't know that, you haven't been on a committee. It's not that much help, but it's help nevertheless.

As a former Googler: bullshit. If anything, Google gives women all the help they can possibly get, including preferential treatment during recruitment, hiring, and promotions. If this is not enough, I'm not sure what else they could do

I don't see why you can't. Most of their articles do that. Truth is often mundane, people wouldn't click through.

It's a low information market with zero competition. Allow import of drugs. Allow insurance to operate across state lines. That's what Trump was suggesting during his campaign. I'd go further, though, and stimulate the flow o

Coming up next: Russian government bans US software on government machines. Microsoft delivers large bags of money to McCain (unless he kicks the bucket by then) and Rubio. Senators recant.

It boggles the mind that some people think that utter and complete feathering and tarring of Trump in the runup to the election can even be interpreted as any kind of "enablement". My point was, the dude is not as clueless as the

If you feel like you can do a better job of winning an election against a Clinton and the entirety of mainstream media, you should run in 2020. Against Trump, naturally, so we confirm the hypothesis.

And that is why, whenever you hear that "science is settled" on something, you know for sure you're talking to a politician or/and a charlatan.

Google actually had to dial down the bonuses circa 2011. For one thing, to keep the comp looking competitive, it makes sense to have a larger component, because until this rebalancing bases were unimpressive there. For another too large a b

No, you'd likely not see anywhere near the 14% reduction. Electricity has to come from somewhere. In a lot of US states that "somewhere" contains a significant fraction of coal and gas.

Fairness is super subjective, so in reality people just want preferential treatment.

I like PyTorch better as well. Note however, that one of its dependencies, gloo, comes with the infamous PATENT addendum. You won't be using it unless you do distributed training tho.

What's a "batchelor" degree? If you meant "bachelor", I was quite pleased to see that the surgeon who was about to operate on me also had a pre-med engineering degree from MIT.

Certainly more relevance than a Music degree. Having been a security researcher in the past would have helped too, but that's not on the menu either. I would like to understand the thought process that resulted in hiring a Music major

I know a dude who makes $800k/yr and still lives paycheck to paycheck. Lack of savings is not necessarily caused by lower income. People tend to shovel money out the door as quickly as it comes in.
