From the post to which I replied: "If you want to use it commercially, pay for it.". I am replying to them talking about a license that prevent commercial use.

If it can't be used commercially, then that's not an open-source license. If you choose to license your work that way, that's your choice, but you're not making something open-source.

I always choose permissive licenses for personal project, and I often avoid depending on other projects that aren't permissive. If I want to know that, if I need to, I can grab the code and change something. And I want others to be abl

I also got 18/20, I was confident on most of them, blinking I found "reset" my vision and made it easier. This was on my relatively comfortable (not too bright) monitor.

I'm on Wayland, and get very different results between Firefox and Chromium. On the former, it's white with yellow eyes and mouth, while on the latter the face is yellowish, with whites in the eyes, and red pupils and mouth.

Good. They're pushing overpriced low-quality junk. If you want to buy from Temu but want a better chance at reasonable prices, shop AliExpress.

The W65C265S is a delightful chip, and I highly encourage anyone curious about playing with 8-bit (/16-bit)processors to pick up board like the ...SXB mentioned here. I do wish that WDC's tools were more open and less Windows-spec

I've never programmed in a Lisp, but I'd love to learn, it feels like one of those languages like Perl that are just good to know. I do have a job where getting better with SKILL would be useful.

Reading this from somewhere that "engineer" is a protected title (Canada), this is a weird read.

I haven't gone to that site in a long time, but back when I did work that was related to its content, it was somewhere between useless and actively bad. From reading this thread, it seems to have improved since, but it has a tarnished

I'm not surprised to see w3schools.com up there. I haven't come across it recently because of shifts in what I do, but it used to come up so often when I was looking for coding documentation. It was almost always useless.

I (panic-)picked up a decent-quality but not overly professional podcaster-type mic ahead of my online Master's thesis defense, and now use it as my exclusive audio input method for Zoom and Teams calls. I have earbuds wired to its mon

Then the Republican party should have lost as soon as they chose Trump. He's not stable or electable. The US already had 4 years of him, and he was transparent about how he intended to run the country. Those who voted Republic knew wha

Anyone who voted Republican knew who they were voting for. This isn't even like last time, they had 4 years of Trump, they can't claim ignorance of what he is. Trump winning the Republican leadership should have meant the GOP thro

And everyone has a right to be excessively rude towards customer service employees. That doesn't mean that it's considered acceptable, or that others shouldn't be critical of people who do that.

This isn't even remotely relevant to this discussion. Being convicted of a crime is not the same as expressing critical opinions.

Voice input while driving isn't an accessibility reason, but it's an important safety feature. Unfortunately Google's Assistant has only gotten worse, nearing uselessness in anything but setting driving directions.

In Canada, there's a big push for buying Canadian given the Trump trade war, and especially avoiding products from the US. A kitchen store I went into over the weekend had little red maple leaf stamps on the price tags of Canadian pr

Very excited to see 6.14 hit Arch! Hanging around sleep (with symptoms that sound like what's described in the write-up) has been the one persistent occasional issue, so I'm hoping that this fixes what I'm seeing.

When I had a DS Lite when I was younger, it was annoying to me that I couldn't connect to the Wi-Fi at home. (IIRC) It only had WEP, instead of WPA(2?).

I'm a bit confused about why the Master's degree is set before "reading papers". I had to do a whole lot of reading (and be at least involved in the writing of) papers in the research of my Master's.

That isn't a C feature, it's a feature of GCC and other compilers. While I have used (and horribly overused) `cleanup` in personal projects, it's not a replacement for a feature being in the standard.

From the title, I was expecting more in terms of technical details on the early kernel (assuming Linux) process itself. Instead this is part of a tutorial series for developers using Yocto, showing how to set up build scripts.

Even if it's for that, it's infuriating, and a terrible pattern. Just as I expect CTRL+click to open in a new tab, there are some interactions that should be left alone; it's annoying to me that they even can be overridden.

There isn't any indication here one way or the other, but some the unique IDs of some devices (Microchip unique MAC chips) are documented as being programmed as a wafer, before being diced (as justification for them not being in serial
