I can't say much about State Street, but lumping BlackRock and Vanguard into the same category tells me that you don't know much.

Plot twist, my build.sh invokes nix build and all I have to do on CI is to install nix and setup caching.

I would actually start interviewing with AI as well. How well they prompt and how good they are at reviewing AI slop?

Interesting, yesterday I was looking at the source code of some library, and noticed a lot TODOs scattered all over. At first, I thought it's a red flag and I shouldn't use this library. However, once I read them all of them, were

At least it breaks during evaluation most of the time, and rolling back is super easy if it broke after activation. Also, it seems like you're using unstable if you're having that many breakages, sooo kinda asking for it?

Sure, but in this case, git being distributed is what sold it for me. I've switched off svn as soon as I've learned of git.

May I use how often and why you use bisect? I don't remember the last time I needed bisect. Well, I also don't work in linux kernel sized repos, so there is that.

Reason I like git is because I use like 2% of its features. I don't fall for propaganda that I need to use bisect and co. 99% of git commands I call are aliased to 3 characters, so it's dense terminology doesn't bother me.

I think nix-the-language is pretty simple and easy to learn language. It's visually hard to parse and a lot of syntax decisions make you wonder, but it's not the worst. The problem is that you're very rarely exposed to it dir

While it's common that coding agents have a way to execute commands and drive a web browser (usually via MCP) that's not what make it an agent. Agentic workflow just means that LLM has some tools it can ask agent to run, in return

Yeah, that's why I often save context once there is enough information for work to be done. Then, once I notice regression in quality, I do a summary of work done (still could be a low quality) and add it on top of previous checkpoint.
