Also there’s configuration management costs to consider, which usually ends up being a biggie.

There are a few gripes I have with microservices. I think most places rearchitect to microservices because it’s the new shiny. They don’t do the engineering necessary to create a detailed cost/benefit analysis, they just feel it will

Yeah, what I'm foreseeing is public and private links, tagging and the ability to search for links by page description, tags and user. The subscription fee would mainly be for hosting costs and an eventual commensurate salary. Even if

I’m fairly confident executable text as well the other functionality of current smalltalk systems can be implemented within a modern IDE framework. What needs updating are the UI components, views, layout, etc. For example, I can envision a

I love ST the language, I like ST the image but I hate the tight coupling to the antiquated UI. I know there’s GNU ST but I wish there were more options. I also wonder how difficult it would be to create a modern IDE integration with GNU ST

Yeah I’m a bit confused how the comment even relates to mine. I took it to mean that my assertion that laying blame on the weather for this mess is bogus and a lie. But that assumption may be wrong.

Yeah this is an important point. Amazon viewed themselves as a software company almost from the beginning. Now a considerable portion of their business is from AWS because of that mind set.
