I don't use the MSVC toolchain or Windows for that matter, so I don't have a good compass for this, but the impression from the newsletter, dev meetings etc is that clang-cl is constantly being improved. Is the situation still tha

I guess this puts the quiet removal of launchd from macosforge.org into perspective. http://web.archive.org/web/20120609100559/http://launchd.mac... Unfortunate timing since it was finally getting a work

libpHash is actually quite slow for what it does. I spent a fair amount of time investigating image hashing algorithms a few years ago and at that time I saw 10-20x improvement over libpHash just by implementing the similar phash algorithm

Being that this is essentially part of the GNUstep project (of which Greg Casamento is the maintainer), which uses the GPL for all its application-level code, it's not surprising.

The article directly describes the phash algorithm presented in the Hacker Factor post, while your second link is an implementation of the ahash algorithm in the same post. libpHash's implementation is slightly more sophisticated (and

You can already use ICC on OS X as it is, so that presumption doesn't really fit. It certainly seems like they intend to use the Mac edition of Composer as a trial run for eventually ditching their own frontend code. Which, given the c

From my own experiences writing either language I have to disagree. C++ may be much (much much) more featureful than C, but if you skip constructs and behavior that aren't strictly a subset of the two you are still missing a lot of mod

Right, you need both sine and cosine parts, hence e^ix, in order to fully describe the function. Unless the function is completely odd (or even), in which case the transform really is equivalent to `x[n] * sin(2 pi k*x/N)` (or cos). To

k is the output index (the "bin" in the frequency domain), or the notch in the rotated space in that graphic. Every output frequency coefficient contains a full sum of the input function, hence a direct translation of that formula

Since Warp is meant to be a drop-in replacement for GCC's cpp, do you plan to include a traditional (pre-standard) preprocessing mode? This has been a source of some agony in FreeBSD, preventing clang's cpp from fully replacing GC

I didn't mean to imply it was the only reason for pursuing a dual-licensing model, but when I spoke to DS about it many years ago (before x264licensing existed) he recognized that it was a potentially serious problem.
