Wife's grandma recently died in her mid 90s. No one in the family actually knew how old she was. In many developing nations, such recordkeeping was often oral and unreliable.

Seriously. I always thought I was very picky, both to flickering and color temp(3000k FTW). Sure, the >3000K bulbs look like death, and I've had issues with some bulbs flickering, but overall I'm really happy with the light o

For me, LED bulbs have a failure curve like any other electronic device: high level initially and quickly levelling off to zero. I've probably had... 10% of my bulbs purchased in the last decade or so go back to the store because they

Cost of capital is still high. Risk free return rate is still high. It's amazing tech has lasted as well as it has. That said, there was a brief "flight to safety" to tech in '08 as well. I think Q3 is going to be pa

Well, the sanctions are an attempt at denying China access to more powerful GPUs like the A100, so it seems the sanctions may actually accelerate research into running LLMs on lower performing HW.

Exactly. Fed was boxed in. 0bps and it would have sent a signal that things were more serious than currently accepted. 50bps and the market would have panicked. 25bps was widely anticipated and doesn't rock the boat, even if it fai

I've never been on anything that tight, but I'll say that the projects I've been on where we used Gantt charts and had a dedicated project manager got done with a lot more precision than anything managed by an agile process.

No. Contagion is so far limited. Economy is still doing relatively well and inflation is still hot. BTFP is arguably QE-lite and has reversed some QT as far as I can tell. When we crash you won't need to ask if we're crashing.
