Indeed, the Julia autodiff implementation linked above would look very similar in Nim as well.

The latest version v4 [0] has GPU support, some of my colleagues are using it already. Looks like the Rust version linked is based on v3 though. "Support for rendering on GPUs is available on systems that have CUDA and OptiX." [

I have a friend working for Roku and once they made a comment that people would be shocked to know what data about customers they have access to.

What warrants this fanatical devotion to command line iterfaces while people have been happily coding without them for decades?

You're one of those people. The lowest risk might be to vaccinate the rest of the population, thus stop the spread of COVID and avoid the danger of both COVID and the vaccine for the most vulnerable.

Sure, but you're entirely missing the point. Question is, is it necessary for programming? I repeat, to be entirely clear, is it necessary ? Not useful, but necessary for a beginner to touch the command line?

No, I'm saying that your kitchen should contain plastic spoons and silicone bowls too, because that's easy for a 2 year old to grasp.

It's definitely GUIs, which is much easier to use for beginners (we're talking about beginners here, not people who have been using command lines exclusively for the last 20 years)

Already did. The author found that installing Node.js needs knowledge about the command line while Excel just needs a few clicks of "Next" (I just did it yesterday)

The command line is a layer of abstraction that could be made unnecessary for programming. You could program in Turbo Pascal without a command line in the 90s

Hmm, there was a sci-fi book about this where a billion years into the future plants have developed sentience and humans are given intelligence by symbiotic fungi. Found it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hothouse_(novel

Here is a Sieve filter I use on Protonmail (free account), which shows some of the things that are possible. The labels it assigns have to be created manually first: require ["vnd.proton.expire", "fileinto", "

I have one remaining worry about Brave: If I choose to auto-contribute to sites, would it be possible to deanonymize me and derive what I look at from the BAT blockchain? E.g. if someone knows some of the sites I look at can they find out t

"Firefox BAT extension might not work in the future" is still better than no Firefox BAT extension. I like the idea of Brave but my preference for Firefox is greater.
