I've tried most of the non-brass instruments: alto clef, not that hard to transpose to anybody that's able to read a piano's grand staff. Tenor clef does require work, and reading, say a Bach chorale in SATB, oof. But violists seem to have a high incidence of injury (i have never played one bigger than 15" Cello and especially double bass do require buildup of strength in the left hand, and fingers start high and come flying down onto the string (composite winds have a lot less tension than steel tho). French horn embouchure and intonation are hard, as you say.
