I am self taught with no degree and honestly, I get at least an interview with about 70% of the places I apply to. I don't put my education on resumes and nobody EVER asks. I am applying to mostly startups though..
- jpgvm 11y agoI do think startups are the key. Startups generally don't have the money for silly hiring processes so they actually take the time to talk to people that apply for positions. That and the money they save on stupid HR process goes to my salary so that is great too.
- swalsh 11y agoI disagree, i've worked for a few fortune 500 companies. The fact that I don't have a degree has never stopped me from getting a programming job. On the other hand, i've definitely had the feeling like there was a glass ceiling.
- s73v3r 11y agoYeah, but the guy in this story is in his 40s. While a startup might not care about education, most of them definitely care about age.
