Why is Homejoy still quoted on the YC landing page?
A few weeks after Homejoy announced that they're closing down, YC still has a quote from Adora Cheung on the landing page --> 'Homejoy would not be where it is today without YC...'
Is this an oversight or is there a reason for still displaying the quote so prominently?
Of course I'm not asking whether it was a mistake to invest in Homejoy at all, it just seems like a funny decision to leave them up there when I'm sure they have enough quotations from founders who's companies are still going strong...
What am I missing?
- marina_shumaeva 11y agoLouisswiss, haven`t you thought that today is weekend and maybe administrators of the web site just didn't have time to change this?
- ColinWright 11y ago> A few weeks after Homejoy announced > that they're closing down, ... If it's been weeks, then maybe the question is valid. Their blog post[0] on July 17, 2015 announced their imminent closure. [0] http://blog.homejoy.com/homejoy-says-goodbye/ http://blog.homejoy.com/homejoy-says-goodbye/
- marina_shumaeva 11y agoHomejoy officially closed its doors on July 31st.
- ColinWright 11y agoSo you think that YC should ignore the announcement, and still wait not only until after the announcement, and after the actual closure, but after the weekend after the closure after the announcement? That's what the original poster was asking. Why wait so long? The announcement was two weeks ago. The closure was Friday - two days ago. Why is the quote still there? Why was it not even set up on the 18th to be removed programmatically on the 31st? It wouldn't be hard - even I do that. Seems a valid question to me. Given what I know of YC, I find it hard to believe that it's just because the closure actually happened on a Friday, they're not working over the weekend, and they'll do it on Monday when they're back.
- louisswiss 11y agoMy thoughts exactly. I'm not assuming that YC should replace the quote, I just don't understand exactly why they haven't. Perhaps it's to show that failed experiments are a valued part of the process?
