What are you describing is 'confirmation bias', a tendency to search for or interpret information in a way that confirms one's preconceptions.
- nraynaud 11y agoLet's say it's a confirmation bias from someones who has 2 shrinks (and no clear diagnostic appart from depression), some medicines and not been employed for 3 years.
- ktallett 11y agoAs an autistic who has experienced shrinks over many years, some can be extremely wary about labelling a mental health condition whilst others can be the complete opposite, it can depend on many factors from where they gain funding, to their own area of expertise. I wouldn't rule anything out nor say you have anything but I have to say getting diagnosed helped me come to terms with a lot of things that happened to me or that I did earlier in life. Therefore I would certainly consider a new view on the subject if I was you.
