- servercobra 11y agoBitBucket private repos are free, GitHub's are not.
- tswartz 11y agoahh.. that makes sense then. :)

- andrewchambers 11y agoBit bucket is free. This is coming from someone who currently pays for a private github account.
- jamesharding 11y agoBitBucket is free for private repos, GitHub is not (unless you have a student promotion active).
- gabeio 11y agoBitbucket is free for private repos if there are <=5 contributors (unless you have a .edu email = unlimited free).
- gjtorikian 11y agoGitHub also provides free private accounts to .edu addresses: https://education.github.com/discount_requests/new https://education.github.com/discount_requests/new (And non-profits: https://github.com/nonprofit https://github.com/nonprofit)
- bskap 11y agoBitBucket is free for private repos with less than five people. Doesn't work for a lot of businesses, which is where most of the money is.

- kristiandupont 11y ago..but if they didn't charge what does it matter that it's where the money is?
- veddermatic 11y agoBecause when your team gets to 6 people, you A) have money (hopefully) and B) your code is already in BitBucket, so choosing to pay them over GitHub is a no brainer.
