To play devil's advocate: A sufficiently advanced autonomous weapon would lead to precise strikes, and fewer civilian casualties. We have image recognition research that is surpassing human accuracy rates. Machines follow orders, and detect and eliminate targets precisely without fear or hesitation. The only thing I'm not comfortable about is giving this much power to the human generals in the military. I say we get rid of guns and armies altogether, and stop fighting wars.
