> In summary, we believe that AI has great potential to benefit humanity in many ways, and that the goal of the field should be to do so. Starting a military AI arms race is a bad idea, and should be prevented by a ban on offensive autonomous weapons beyond meaningful human control.
Why only ban offensive autonomous weapons? Why not ban them all? How is offensive different from defensive in this context?
- Emunt 11y agoAn autonomous ballistic missile defense system would have a lot less impact than an AI that had control of a few missiles. I do agree that there still could be some danger though.
