Show HN: First ever FPGA CPU built using open source tools?
- aprdm 11y agoInteresting, I wonder if the hardware design of the FPGA is open as well (just to be pedantic), probably not :P
- cottonseed 11y agoNo, it was reversed engineered by the IceStorm project: http://www.clifford.at/icestorm/ http://www.clifford.at/icestorm/
- FullyFunctional 11y agoCongratulations on the First and thanks for the polished package - this is quite impressive. I finally cracked open the iCE40 HX datasheet, but was stunned to see the memory block: "Note the sysMEM Embedded Block RAM Memory address 0 cannot be initialized." That's extremely awkward.
- williamsharkey 11y agoThis is really cool. Thanks for doing this and sharing the instructions. Also note, James created the Gameduino 1 & 2, which are worth checking out. http://excamera.com/sphinx/gameduino/ http://excamera.com/sphinx/gameduino/ http://excamera.com/sphinx/gameduino2/ http://excamera.com/sphinx/gameduino2/
