I've often wondered why solar power are not used with the desalination plants? Perhaps that would help bring the power usage down to the same level as pumping the water in from the north of the state.
- dredmorbius 11y agoSolar power isn't free. you've got the costs of plant capital and maintenance. That said, desalination is the type of readily added or shed load which can tolerate surplus / deficit variable energy supply.
