Very impressive. I'm sure people here would love to hear more about the challenges you faced and what kind of things were surprisingly easy to get working. It looks like you followed the basic design of a Van de Graaf generator, so I imagine you had a very difficult time with static eletricity. How did you handle alignment of the colors? Maybe a gray code and optical sensor on the back side of the bands?
