- mikeash 11y agoOh shit, the contagion is spreading. "Near miss" means "a miss which was near." It does not mean "nearly missed." It's not an incorrect phrase, it's not a contradiction, and the only thing that's silly about the phrase is how people keep on pointing this out. (Carlin makes it funny, I must admit. But you're not him.)
