BTW I feel the only leading company that is aligned with this vision is Apple.
- _mgr 11y ago"BTW I feel the only leading company that is aligned with this vision is Apple." I wanted to say something to this effect but the last 12-18 months has shown that Apple is losing its way also.
- marincounty 11y agoYea, I'm beginning to think Steve Jobs was Apple? Apple needs a chief who lives gadgets, demands perfection, and most importantly grew up poor, or middle class. I don't think there's too many Steve Jobs out there? You can't produce another Steve Jobs with a good resume, or education. I think that rebellion in him, maybe because he lived through the 60's, is missing in many CEO's? He was really one of a kind! I always thought I wouldn't want him as a friend, but I would want him running my company. (I'm not condoning angry, perfectionists who happen to be in power--you people are not not Steve Jobs--no matter how hard you try.) In my life, I have only seen one Steve! RIP!
- tim333 11y agoQuite a lot was Jony Ive. I'm optimistic the good design will go on.
- sunwooz 11y agoStrange considering that the only reason you're alive today is because of technology. There is no set end-goal. You create your own end-goal. That's the point of human existence, to create your own meaning.
- coldtea 11y ago>Strange considering that the only reason you're alive today is because of technology. Citation needed. The main reason people don't die at birth as much or live longer is not some high technology, but a few basics: understanding of bacteria and the need to sterilize, access to running water, etc.
- ectoplasm 11y agoHe didn't say high technology. Agriculture is technology.
- coldtea 11y agoWell, in that sense even bird nests are technology. And chimpangees are known to use tools. So, duh, just because we're benefited from such low level technology, doesn't mean we have to like any and all technology, or that it's not diminishing returns above some point. Or, conversely, animals are alive today even without technology (and some are dying because of it, perhaps even man, if we go on with a nuclear war or some other such BS).
- anentropic 11y agothe Watch suggests otherwise....
- TeMPOraL 11y agoYou could say something like that about most activities people are involved in. What is football? It's just an entertainment, not an end-goal in itself. What are family dramas? They're only a boring part of life, not an end-goal in itself. I'll leave the (figurative) you to enjoy your family dramas and football and drunken parties with friends if you leave me to enjoy my quadcopters and 3D printers.
- vlunkr 11y agoThis is why I love Nintendo! The tech isn't the end goal, it's the means to experiencing new gaming experiences.
- Saturnaut 11y agoExcept they don't create new gaming experiences, they only recycle old games with gimmicky controls.
- endemic 11y agoEh, first time I played Nintendo Land, it felt like a new experience to me. The asynchronous gameplay of 1 vs. 4 players in some of the minigames was unlike anything I'd played before. Gave me that "delightful" feeling that you only get every few years when experiencing something new and exciting.
