How many photo products has Google had? Have any of them been successful?
- saurik 11y agoI thought people liked the Picasa app? (But then again, I never used it myself ;P.)
- plorkyeran 11y agoPicasa's an acquisition, and all of the stuff Google added to it was eventually folded into G+ with little fanfare so I'm guessing it wasn't a huge success.
- mod 11y agoI thought picasa was great. I preferred it to other apps in that space, at the time. I later moved lightroom into my workflow instead, mostly because of quick raw edits.
- detaro 11y agoPicasa was nice, and back when it did offline face recognition that was a unique and valueable feature.
- jpatokal 11y agoGoogle Photos is the default home of your pictures if you have an Android phone, so yes, it's actually pretty darn successful.
- jfoster 11y agoDepends on the definition of success, I suppose. For Google I think success is either having a substantial percentage of the world's population using it, or for it to be making a huge amount of money, with that amount being compared to Adwords. The closest they've come is almost certainly the new Google Photos app, which will probably end up with a decent portion of Android users actively using it.
