Why were there crack wars and their accompanying violence? (Just playing a little root-cause-analysis here.)

  Crack was new and popular and very lucrative. Dealers were staking out territory. If there's more to it than that I'm not aware.

      I'm not sure what you're getting at. It was new because it was new. It was popular for the same reason any drug is popular. You're not gonna go Crazy Maxine on me, are you?
