Her Son Died by Lighting Fireworks on His Head; Now She Wants Stricter Laws
- paulhauggis 11y agoSorry, but her son was an idiot. The only thing that we need is stricter parenting laws. I knew by the age of 12 how to properly handle fireworks and I had them around every summer until my mid 20s. The reason is because my parents taught me. As I got older, I also knew that if I was going to drink even 1 beer, I wouldn't be lighting any fireworks that night.
- dudul 11y agoHer son was an imbecile, no denying that. However, she is right that fireworks are indeed explosives, it wouldn't hurt to restrict sales to 21+ (it may already be the case in most states) or even people with a license for the most powerful of them.
- drallison 11y agoI would like to see the sale of individual fireworks banned, but not on individual safety grounds. I live in the West and every fireworks-enable holiday has us fearful that some reveler will ignite the forest tinderbox made worse by years of (global warming induced) drought.
