I saw a CNN story last week about Google's free energy monitoring software. Then at the end of the story was a huge let down: you need special hardware to get it running. I checked Wattvision right after that and there were no updates, so today I'm super happy to see that the hardware is available. If it proves to work well, hopefully we'll see a story on CNN (i.e. to the public at large) in the next few months.
