Ask:HN How to migrate/convert 32-bit vm to 64-bit physical machine?
We are running Fedora-14 (yes, its pretty old) but we are okay with it.
This machine has Databases, home directories and custom SELinux modules.
We want to move to new 64-bit server.
I was thinking below steps for migration:
1: Launch a 64-bit CentOS-6 machine.
2: Find existing kernel modules/configuration on 32bit
3: Ensure 64-bit kernel built from 32-bit and reload modules.
4: Find the packages available/installed ('rpm -qa'?) 32bit & install them.
5: Now rsync home directory and others with preserve attributes option from 32-bit to 64bit
6: Rsync mysql directory to 64bit
7: Compile and reload SELinux modules
Any steps or suggestions to make this process easier?
