This is not even a problem if you're using Ansible (and possibly others): you just say you want the latest version of the package installed, and ansible will to an `apt-get update` for you as a preliminary step, and install/update the package if needed. So basically, all the machines you're running ansible on will have the latest version (if that's what you want, of course)
