Re: Forums... I neglected to mention that I've sort of already done this in StackOverflow, which had a lot of old questions with a plethora of insecure answers (esp. cryptography advice).
I've managed to clean up the most popular ones (at least as far as Google search results go as a metric for popularity) and discovered a pocket of the developer community that cares about security I didn't know existed in the process.
As far as my personal/legal name goes, I'd rather just give up on that front. There's no way I can legitimately compete with the SEO resources of the news agencies that, several years later, still top the Google search rankings for my name. I'd rather just do a lot of good things under Paragon's name and make that something worth recommending. My name? A lost cause.
I'll start saving up for those books. Thanks for the recommendation.
- yoloswagins 11y agoStackOverflow is great, but it's audience is other developers, who may not be clients of yours. Does this forum have people who pay for services like yours? I share my legal name with an engineer at Uber. Because of this, people who google me, will ask me about working at Uber. People google your name, and covering the crap with frosting will help you deal with that event.
- sarciszewski 11y ago> Does this forum have people who pay for services like yours? No, it does show up as the top result in Google for some questions, however. I have no idea where to even begin locating an active forum where serious businssmen congregate.
- yoloswagins 11y agoWho pays for app-sec?
- sarciszewski 11y agoWho pays for software development? Those people should be receiving secure software.
