Is this really in the spirit of a Show HN post? It's basically an advertisement to rent someone's space.

Yeah, I was also thinking about that. But at the same time who would think about a business idea for small air ports otherwise? Also not many people rent to new businesses who might end up not being able to pay a bill or two on time (or at all). So yeah, you're right. It's an ad. But that doesn't make it a worse adventure, I presume. So I actually like it despite hating to see ads on the front page.

AirBnB could have launched as "Show HN: Rent my living room for one night while in town." Uber could have launched as "Show HN: Rent my driver for a few miles"

Hello, thanks for your feedback. I posted this because I feel like it is a very unique space/opportunity and is in the spirit of fostering startup progress. I guess many Show HN posts could be considered to be an advertisement. Usually it is an advertisement for an individual's skills or awesome ability. In this case, my wife's and my awesome ability is restoring a run-down airport facility and trying to make it into something more modern. A lot of hard work has gone into this space and I believe that this opportunity is a reflection of our hard work, just like a lot of the software projects out there. I apologize if you feel like my intent is too commercial for the subject line chosen.

    That's correct. We've taken Show HN out of the title.

While clearly advertising this space, it manages to simultaneously be an interesting enough proposition that I'd be sad to see it removed.

  It's implicit in posting anything to HN that you think it's interesting, just as it's implicit that you're showing it. That's not enough to make a post a Show HN, or every post would be.
