Will the anti-corporate brigades in these large community-driven sites make turning a profit impossible in the long-run?
- stefantalpalaru 11y agoNo, the corporations will simply adapt and learn to play the anti-corporate tune to turn a profit. See Continuum, American Odyssey, Mr. Robot, The Lego Movie, and so on. You want an anti-corporate message and you are willing to pay for it? There are corporations ready to fulfill your need :-)
- mindcrime 11y agoI don't think so, because the degree of "anti corporate" sentiment varies dramatically from sub to sub. The thing is, it almost doesn't even make sense to talk about "The Reddit Community" as though it was any one, unified, cohesive whole, because it largely isn't.
- muglug 11y agoAgreed, but there's a subset of the reddit community that passionately rallies against comprehensive attempts to make the site more commercial in nature. And now, with this resignation, they're likely to feel emboldened.
