On the surface this list makes a lot of sense. Each category of things not to build comes with a couple of examples of giant competitors: Wikipedia, Wordpress, Expedia... If I were to build a startup in one of these categories, these would be the examples I would think of in the bar-napkin stage. They are obvious. I don't think 280 North will see this post and think "jQuery! We forgot about jQuery!" There is always room for something giant and disruptive. More commonly there is always room for something small and sustainable.
