- Amezarak 11y agoIt is impossible for the Grecian government to do anything about growing their economy when their creditors are demanding spending cuts and tax hikes that actually worsen the economy. The troika has been pushing "expansionary austerity" and it has been a monumental failure that has dragged down Europe. Would the Grecian government be able to provide pro-expansionary policies without being hamstrung by the troika? I don't know. But it seems like a moot point.
- gizmo 11y agoWhat does that even mean? What should the Greek government do to "start growing their economy", that they've been unwilling to do so far?
- fleitz 11y agoThey could start by pairing social programs with jobs. eg. instead of paying people to go on welfare, they could instead pay them to build a bridge, office tower, housing, etc.
