Depends how far into the future you're asking. 5 years, 10 years, 50 years? My two cents is that everything is cyclical. It's easy now to forget about the 2007 real estate crash, the 1999-2001 dotcom bust, the recession in the late 80's and early 90's. We're roughly due for another economic downturn, but the cause is anyone's guess and the software industry is not immune to external market forces. Nothing stays up forever, and nothing stays down forever either (in economics and business).
