I think with C++ it is much easier to shoot yourself in the foot, but overall, I think it's probably mostly just ecosystem between the C++ and Java. Having tried both Rust and Go, I think I'd much prefer Go for simple web dev stuff because of all the ecosystem around it, but for most other things prefer rust.
