I said value proposition, part of which is compensation. I'd gladly sacrifice some compensation for a better work environment, flexible hours, and competent coworkers. But compensation is a large part of it, and if you're offering the same non-monentary benefits as another company with a drastically lower salary, you'll lose employees.
