The gimmick here, if you will, is that it comes with the code and the bits to do a certain job - but there is nothing specialized about the mill itself, besides maybe being under-engineered to meet a price point. There's nothing stopping you from attaching other bits and feeding it other code, and milling some other object out of a block of aluminum with it - in that sense it is general purpose.
