I've listened to this Planet Money podcast - http://www.npr.org/sections/money/2015/05/06/404701816/episode-621-when-luddites-attack http://www.npr.org/sections/money/2015/05/06/404701816/episo... - a couple of days ago about luddites. In it they describe the luddites as highly skilled workers - it is easy to forget that those spinning frames weren't actually easy to operate - and they were well paid and even gave themselves the privilege of not working on mondays.
