There's no reason to put a sample library on an SSD.
- gregsq 11y agoThere would be for me if the price of SSD's come down enough. With my 2011 MBP and RME Babyface taxing the computer a bit too much with USB 2.0 context switching, my 120gig of samples streamed from disk would help while running this all at 96K.
- jobjh797878 11y agoTruthfully, I never considered this use case. Are you saying the computer is taxed because the USB controller is saturated?
- coldtea 11y agoActually there are tons of reasons. You don't want to bring around extra drives and cables when you perform. You don't want vibrations, bad handling etc while performing / touring etc, to crap your HDD. You get much much faster random reads, which is what playing large sample libraries is all about.
- moogly 11y agoI put all my sample libraries on SSDs to cut down on project load times. It helps immensely.
