Shaarli: Self-hosted del.icio.us alternative
- detaro 11y agoInteresting, although after reading the first bullet point ("Minimalist design (simple is beautiful)") looking at the screenshots was ... surprising ;)
- petercooper 11y agoDefinitely not as featureful as something like this, but when Delicious started to go down the pan I switched to a simple Ruby script and a Dropbox-synced data file between all my machines. Several years in, it's still working a treat! "Dropbox + simple script" seems to be a great mechanism for many apps if you don't need easy public access.
- voltagex_ 11y agoI've finally switched to pinboard.in - the browser addons are definitely not as good, though.
- sampl 11y agoAlso a pinboard user--it's fast, minimal, and reliable. Definitely recommended.
- mullingitover 11y agoPinboard is great, the bookmarklet is the only addon I need. It's got one of the best tech communities out there, and it's basically del.icio.us in its heyday. Thank you, Maciej.
- voltagex_ 11y agoEver tried to pin something on github.com? All the major browsers have disabled bookmarklets that conflict with content security policies.
- mullingitover 11y agoI can't recall ever having a problem pinning stuff from github. Just to sanity check my own memory, I tried it just now. It worked fine. edit: and this was using the 'popup with tags' bookmarklet from pinboard's howto page [1] [1] https://pinboard.in/howto/ https://pinboard.in/howto/
- voltagex_ 11y agoI just tried to pin https://github.com/ircv3/ircv3-specifications/issues/77 https://github.com/ircv3/ircv3-specifications/issues/77 with the popup with tags bookmarklet. I get no response from either it or Delicious' bookmarklet. AFAICR this issue is years old - https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=866522 https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=866522
- voltagex_ 11y ago"Content Security Policy: The page's settings blocked the loading of a resource at self ("script-src https://assets-cdn.github.com https://assets-cdn.github.com https://collector-cdn.github.com" https://collector-cdn.github.com")." for me
- cschmidt 11y agoI think it is a browser specific bug. I use Firefox, and it doesn't work.
- idlewords 11y agoThis is a frustrating browser bug that, as far as I can tell, is limited to Firefox. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=866522 https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=866522 I've been lobbying people to complain about it for years now, as many Pinboard users find it deeply frustrating.
- voltagex_ 11y agoHi Maciej, I doubt that will ever be fixed. Would you consider hosting a userscript like that mentioned in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=866522#c38 https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=866522#c38
- davewongillies 11y agoIf you're using Chrome, I found Pinput to be the best of the bunch: https://github.com/1000ch/pinput https://github.com/1000ch/pinput
- voltagex_ 11y agoThat's some tidy Javascript code. I'm mostly using Firefox these days, unfortunately.
- kawera 11y agoI've been using an osx native app [1], very fast and works on all browsers. (just a happy user) [1] http://bananafishsoftware.com/products/spillo/ http://bananafishsoftware.com/products/spillo/
- shadeless 11y agoOne more chrome extension recommendation: https://github.com/bertrandom/pinboard-keyboard-shortcut https://github.com/bertrandom/pinboard-keyboard-shortcut It overrides the default "add bookmark" shortcut (Ctrl+D/Cmd+D), which is very nice if you have built a habit of pressing that every time you find something interesting.
- vardhanw 11y agoLooks a lot like Diigo which I am using nowadays. Any advantages to pinboard?
- not_a_test_user 11y agoIf you're an Alfred user, https://github.com/spamwax/alfred-pinboard https://github.com/spamwax/alfred-pinboard is the best way I've found to add links to Pinboard.
- jcastro 11y agoAlso check out https://bookie.io/ https://bookie.io/
- Tepix 11y agoThanks. I like the fact that it is self-hosted (unlike pinboard)
- jtth 11y agoI believe these are called "bookmarks."
- orblivion 11y agoNext question is one of federation (delicious, after all, works as a search engine because of multiple user input). It would be really cool to see a world where all these roll-your-own things are starting to connect.
- fweespeech 11y agoIf you are interested in drawing attention, I'd suggest maybe hosting a cheap demo version on like a $5 DO instance for people to play with. ;)
- anjanb 11y agoAfter leaving delicious, I've been using google bookmarks(https://www.google.co.in/bookmarks/ https://www.google.co.in/bookmarks/). Isn't anyone else using it ? If anyone has tried using google bookmarks, how would you compare it with pinboard.in ?
- benoliver999 11y agoI used this for a long time and really liked it. It's very easy to set up and works great.
- fbartels 11y agoThe project has not been updated for quite some time by the original author, but luckily there is a quite active fork on Github (including a public demo): https://github.com/shaarli/Shaarli https://github.com/shaarli/Shaarli
- mrgris 11y agosorry but Shaarly is the best choice, free, secure, légé, taxonomy, rss feeds and private bookmarks by tag. And a simple shared hosting is enough.
