Yeah this seems to be the case. I've actually read one of Dr. Nee's papers recently (since I'm interested in VR). My takeaway without being a psychologist is that there are stored patterns of navigating houses and a general understanding of the starting situation (all burglars took the rear entry, all students took the front entry).
