However, I don't see how "that's the law" is a defense against "that requirement looks racist, or at least causes disparate impact" ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disparate_impact https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disparate_impact ). It's entirely possible for a law to harm particular groups of people more than others.
