My grandma used to tell me a similar story about her old country (Burma) except they used gold jewelry.
- lallysingh 17y agoGold jewelry's pretty popular in India for about the same reason.
- endtime 17y agoI believe German Jews bought a lot of jewelery in the late 1930's for...similar reasons. It was easier to hide than cash, and they could always try to pass it off as some family heirloom with no more than sentimental value.
