Did breaking MD5 require a computer the size of the universe 20 years ago?
- mikeash 11y agoIt was thought to, which is why it became so popular. It turned out to be wrong.
- astrodust 11y agoNot really. It was cracked by a distributed network of ordinary computers were people volunteered CPU time.
