Perhaps it is just working environment? Since I quit cubicle my productivity skyrocketed and I actually enjoy it. Banging your head against a wall on unsolvable problem? Lets take kids for lunch, some swimming on beach. I will resume head banging at evening, but problem is usually cracked before that.
