It would be an exaggeration just going by the link to claim that the UEA data was "the primary source of data used in the IPCC's reports". There are numerous records of temperature data: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instrumental_temperature_record http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instrumental_temperature_record, so suspect the truth is out there.
