I was born and raised in Ukraine till I turned 14. Still have most of my family there and they visit regularly. They were present during most of the revolution and I can confirm nothing but love and pride to be Ukrainian. All that talk about Ukrainian nazi is garbage. Yes, we aren't perfect and we may have difficulties bringing order but it was all done with good intentions at heart. Most recent revolutions, including the Orange revolution, are some of the most peaceful times in Ukraine. People are truly united, crime rates drop dramatically, people make food and bring it to feed others for free. Both of my grandparents attended all of these events. I've never been more proud, I hope peace and order can be restored without Russia's involvement.
- dmix 11y agoTaken out of context, this type of comment makes for good nationalist propaganda.
- serg_chernata 11y agoNothing but love here, I didn't even say anything negative about Russia. You kind of surprised me with that actually.
- tobiasu 11y agoYou're hysterical
- serg_chernata 11y agoCool comment, what does it contribute?
- tobiasu 11y agoIt should give you a hint that you need to up your propaganda game. Even the funny defense minister of that great "nation" of yours doesn't spread the butter this thick. And that's saying something from someone that atomized entire Russian tank battalions and gets driven out of airports by tactical nukes.
- serg_chernata 11y agoI'm genuinely sorry you feel that way. What I offered was a first-hand experience of my family, not my government or some political garbage. Yet you chose to turn this into a discussion about our broken government and individuals within it. If this at all helps, I've lived in US for over 10 years now. I am a citizen, I finished college here, got married and started my career. I'm never going back because I don't like the turmoil but nothing can invalidate my initial comment and the truth behind it.
- Freedom123tp 11y agoUkraine is no better than Russia and in some cases is even worse. Ukraine has a serious Nazi problem. While in Russia one oppositionist Nemstov was murdered, soon after in Ukraine as many as 8 opposition MEPs were murdered (allegedly committing suicide). The Ukrainian nationalists claimed responsibility for the murders. [1] Recently the Ukrainian parliament has passed a law (act 2538) that forbids questioning the heroism of fascist organizations such as OUN UPA and their leader Stepan Bandera - which are responsible for massacring and ethnic cleansing 200 000 Polish women and children in the Volhynia Massacre. [2] Stepan Bandera which also was a Nazi collaborator is commonly regarded as Ukraine's national hero by most of them. 1: http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-04-22/nationalist-group-takes-responsibility-murders-ukraine http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-04-22/nationalist-group-t... 2: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Massacres_of_Poles_in_Volhynia_and_Eastern_Galicia#Methods https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Massacres_of_Poles_in_Volhynia...
- free652 11y agoTruly united? Sadly that's just your PoV. I was too born and raised in Ukraine, in Odessa. As many Odessans, we will never forget May 2nd, 2014 and will never forgive.
- tim333 11y agoYeah good luck in Ukraine. I see the pro Russian 'rebels' have gone from claiming the Kiev government are nazis to claiming they are 'miserable Jews.' They seem a bit confused in their messaging. If it was just propoganda it would be comical but sadly the Russians seem to be sending troops and weaponry also.
