Incidentally, for anyone who like's GitHub's features and workflow but not GitHub the organization itself, GitLab (https://about.gitlab.com/ https://about.gitlab.com/) has an open-source and self-hostable CE version that's very much "well-executed GitHub clone", with a paid (but still self-hostable) EE version with stuff like extended LDAP/Active Directory and JIRA integration.
