When used as a login shell, shell is expected to source some init scripts to fix PATH, locale and stuff; if a particular distro is not written with alternative shells in mind this will fail, esentially making you use two shells which is cumbersome enough to be a deal breaker.
- saidajigumi 11y agoThanks for the input; that's a good point. For my part, I don't tend to run into this, as I either run a stock distro shell or I go all the way and install the half-sentient metavirus that's my homedir repo. Which I've taught to deal with such vagaries rather efficiently over the years.
