I was around 31 when I decided to teach myself how to type properly. I went through the entire program in a month or so without skipping any of the core program. After just a few months, I could type around 70-80wpm. After a few more months, I was able to type around 100wpm. Once I was able to type reasonably well (30-40wpm), I started using the following two sites for practice/fun.
