Millions of people will lose their jobs, and they aren't going to be prepared to find an entirely new career. I'm very much a bull on technology, but this is something we (technologists) need to start talking to policy makers about. Incredible disruption is coming down the pipe, and good policy needs to be designed to cope with it. Manufacturing automated the jobs away, by the by - it didn't really send them overseas. That's a popular error, but wrong. The US was #1 in manufacturing until last year.
